Falsterbo Horse Show 2026
Europe's oldest and one of the continent's largest equestrian events, set on the stunning Falsterbo peninsula in southern Sweden. For two weeks every July, this quiet coastal village transforms into an international arena for show jumpers, dressage riders and tens of thousands of spectators.
Dates and programme 2026
Falsterbo Horse Show takes place in July 2026, typically during the first two weeks of the month. The exact schedule is usually released in March or April at falsterbohorseshow.com. The programme spans around ten competition days, building to an intense final weekend.
Week one traditionally focuses on national classes, young horse competitions and top-level dressage. Week two draws the international elite with CSI 5* show jumping, where the world's best riders tackle the legendary Falsterbo course. The Gloppen -- the iconic water jump in front of the grandstand -- is the moment everyone waits for.
Tickets and entry
On weekdays during the first week, entry is often free or costs a nominal fee, making it perfect for a relaxed day at the arena with children. For the final weekend and the major international classes, tickets are required, and the popular VIP packages tend to sell out early. Purchase tickets in advance through the official website -- prices typically range from SEK 100-350 for a day pass (roughly EUR 10-35). Children under 12 usually enter free.
Getting there from our apartments
The competition grounds are at Falsterbo Riding Club, right next to Falsterbo Golf Club on the southern tip of the peninsula. From our apartments in central Falsterbo, it is roughly a 10-15 minute walk -- a pleasant stroll along villa streets lined with roses and lush gardens. By bicycle, you are there in five minutes.
Walking or cycling is genuinely the smartest way to get there. During competition weeks, traffic is heavy and parking around the arena is limited. If you have a rental car, I recommend leaving it at the apartment and going on foot.
Local tip
Arrive early in the morning during the final weekend. The course looks stunning in the morning light, the stables are open for visits before the first class, and you can secure a prime spot along the arena fence without the crowds. Bring a blanket and coffee -- mornings can be cool even in July.
Parking
Large parking areas are set up on fields surrounding the venue, but they fill up fast on the big competition days. Expect a parking fee of around SEK 100-150 per day. My strongest advice: skip the car entirely. If you are staying with us, you are already within walking distance. For those coming from further away, there is some parking at Falsterbo beach (about a 20-minute walk) that tends to be less crowded.
Food and drink at the venue
The food offering has improved considerably in recent years. Beyond the classic food trucks with burgers and crepes, you will now find local options -- fresh seafood from Skanor harbour, specialty coffee, and often a wine bar featuring southern Swedish producers. Prices are what you would expect at a major event, so consider bringing a picnic basket if you want to keep costs down. There is plenty of grass around the arena to spread out a blanket.
What to bring
The sun can be intense on the open grounds, so sunscreen and a hat are essential. Wear comfortable shoes -- the surface is a mix of grass and gravel. Bring a light jacket for the evening if you plan to stay for the late classes. Binoculars are useful if you want to appreciate the finer details of the riding. And of course a camera -- the light over Falsterbo during a July evening is truly special.
Accommodation during Horse Show
Falsterbo Horse Show is the single biggest driver of accommodation demand on the peninsula -- apartments often book up months in advance. It is not uncommon for returning guests to reserve next year's dates during the current event. My recommendation is to book as early as possible, ideally before April.
Our apartments are all within comfortable walking distance of the arena, making them ideal for Horse Show visitors. You avoid the parking chaos, can pop home for a midday rest, and enjoy a quiet evening after an intense day at the arena. Many of our guests are returning equestrian enthusiasts who appreciate the proximity and the calm.
For families
Combine the Horse Show with beach life! Falsterbo's wide sandy beach is just minutes away -- perfect for children who need a break from the competitions. During Horse Show weeks, the whole peninsula buzzes with life: pop-up shops, restaurant events, and a festive atmosphere unique to this place.
